Start Your Nautical Journey by Renting a Leopard 40 Catamaran in Turkey
Turkey, the land where the mountains meet the sea in a spectacular infusion of natural beauty. Sailing along its coast is truly a treat, and when this is done in the lap of luxury, nothing else could ever hope to beat the experience. The Leopard 40 Catamaran can offer just that. The designer, Simonis Voogd was on to something with the design of this cat, borrowing from its elder sisters built by Robertson and Caine and yet retaining a unique authenticity. It feels and looks larger than it actually is, due to its impeccable attention to detail. Perfect, in order words, for a luxurious charter on the Turquoise Coast.
Interior
source: Nautique.Tv
The interior of this 40-foot gem is bathed in light thanks to the tall vertical glasses spanning the front of the saloon, while the galley is enclosed in slightly curved side windows, giving whoever holds the galley a view to rival all others. The interior flows seamlessly out into the cockpit so that eight strong can dine at the table in the saloon’s port corner. All you have to do is keep the sliding doors wide open to let the sweet sunset breeze waft throughout. Out on the cockpit, a second table and seats can sit eight to ten passengers comfortably in the shade.
The beautiful interiors belie the strength of the ship. To port, forward and aft cabins share a head and shower and are fitted with the best in comfort, while the master suite is even fitted with a desk and a vanity in the middle. The helm station grants the helmsman excellent visibility all around, with a view of the main through the window over the wheel. Speaking of, a Lewmar electric winch aids in the raising of the large main, facilitating the process. Being only a few steps from the cockpit, the helmsman is never really far from the party, especially given the pod is quite compact and having more than one person there would make things difficult to manoeuvre. There are ample storage areas in lockers and drawers all throughout this cat.
Performance

The performance of this gem also has sailors sing its praises. With a full deck and under sail, the cat manages to still make good speed, with a reported 8.3 knots in a 16-knot breeze when occupied by around 14 guests. The engines, on the other hand, are slightly more difficult to reach when compared to other cats, but when the tie-rod mechanisms are pushed out of the way, they are more easily accessible. Their performance? The twin 29hp Yanmar sail drive diesel can take the cat to up to a 7-knot cruising speed and at 8.4 knots in still water. Tankage when full contains 96 gallons of diesel and 206 gallons of water.

The designer and builders are renowned to take feedback from charters and owners to heart, and this shows in the final design of the Leopard 40. It lacks the luxury and comfort of a larger cat, with a price which is more accessible at $450,000. Consider the Leopard 40 when chartering your yacht this year to sail the Turkish coast. Get a good taste of the glamorous life, with a backdrop which will be the envy of all.
