Valetta
Valetta is the capital of the incredibly charming Mediterranean island of Malta. Constructed in 16th century by the Knights of St. John. The abundance of history contained within this magnificent fortified city, a UNESCO world heritage site of course, is deserving of a stay for more than just a few days. From the opulent radiance of St. Johns Cathedral, with its regal arched ceilings and numerous works of art to the fairytale esque views of the Grand Harbour and the Church of Our Lady of Victory, the first church to be built in Valetta. This location truly possesses a myriad of visually stimulating and thought-provoking sites of interest.
Comino
The Maltese island of Comino, that owes its name to the cumin seed that once thrived in the Maltese islands, is the third largest of the three islands that comprise the Maltese archipelago, located between Malta and Gozo. Almost uninhabited, most people flock to the island to see the Blue Lagoon, found in the Western part of the island, this well positioned cove offers awe inspiring turquoise blue waters with amazing clarity, perfect for a quick (or long) dip, snorkelling and for those wanting to venture a bit further, you can swim over to the islet of Cominotto. Towards the South, you will find Saint Mary’s Tower, an important link in a sequence of signalling towers between Malta and Gozo, erected by the Knights in the early seventeenth century. We also recommend checking out the Comino Chapel.
Gozo
The stunning island of Gozo, like Malta, is shrouded in history, having been utilised by multiple nations of a bygone era and is home to the Ggantija Megalithic Temples, the world’s second oldest remaining manmade religious construction, older than the Pyramids of Giza! If its beaches your searching for, Ramla Bay to the North-East of the island offers stunningly clear waters and incredibly smooth sand. Not too far away from the Ramla, you can mosey Calypso Cave, where you will find the remnants of a Roman villa dating back nearly 2,000 years. Gozo offers some fantastic diving, with an abundance of marine life, wreckages and caves to explore. The Citadel, a walled city located in Victoria, the island’s capital, offers some fascinating history and incredible panoramic views of the entire island.
