Also, you will save a small fortune because you won’t need professional cooks. Cooking aboard is all about the ultimate gourmet sea experience! Here are several excellent reasons to try it:

  • Personalized dishes

Cooking aboard your yacht is awesome because you can personalize the menu.

Whether it’s the size of the portions or seasoning preferences, you are the captain of your culinary yacht experience. It’s also great if you have to accommodate dietary restrictions or food allergies.

  • Budget-friendly feast

Paying for a private chef or dining at restaurants all the time can quickly turn your dream into a nightmare for your wallet.

On the other hand, by cooking aboard your yacht, you can save money and redirect it for shore excursions, water toys, or maybe a bottle of the finest wine to celebrate a special moment.

  • Cuisine with a view

Imagine drinking freshly brewed coffee and soaking in the sunrise or relishing a seafood sunset feast as you anchor close to a secluded beach.

These views will make every bite of your homemade food taste even better. When you cook and eat aboard, you have a unique waterfront dining spot that no other restaurant can match.

  • Bonding over food

When you cook a meal on a yacht, it’s an adventure for everyone aboard. Whether it’s your family, friends, colleagues, or fellow adventurers, head to the kitchen area and create an enjoyable feast together.

Cooking together can be a great bonding experience and an awesome opportunity to show off your culinary skills.

  • Flexibility

By cooking aboard, you’re not limited to a restaurant’s working hours or menus. Eager for a fancy breakfast at noon or a midnight snack?

The galley is open 24/7 and it’s up to you to decide what you’ll be snacking on. You have total control over the food options when cooking aboard a yacht.

An Indispensable Part of a Gourmet Sea Experience: The Galley

The galley is the heart of a yacht’s culinary adventure where you can prepare tasty meals and create memorable moments. Most yachts, including many that you can book through Book2Sail, feature a galley, although they all differ in size and facilities.

The galley is the kitchen of the sea and a place to craft tasty meals. To ensure your galley remains the culinary sanctuary of your yacht trip, here are some useful galley tips for its maintenance:

  • Keep it clean

A tidy and clean galley is a happy galley. Spills and messes on a moving vessel can easily cause an accident or an incident.

Clean up after every food preparation and store items in cupboards and drawers. Also, don’t forget to wipe down surfaces after every use.

  • Stock up wisely

Before your voyage, ensure your shopping list covers all the ingredients for your meals, snacks, and drinks.

It’s a useful approach to stock on non-perishables and essentials like oils, condiments, and spices and leave out fresh ingredients because you can buy those at ports during your stops.

  • Master the essentials

Regardless of your experience, some kitchen gadgets and tools are indispensable parts of the galley.

The must-have list includes a good knife set, cookware like pans, pots, baking sheets, cutting boards, measuring cups, and mixing bows. You can organize your galley with drawer dividers and shelf organizers.

  • Plan the menu

Before your trip, make a rough plan of your meals to prevent last-minute panic attacks. Consider how many meals you plan to cook versus those you would like to eat at restaurants.

Don’t forget to plan for variety and include as many local ingredients from the yacht destinations as possible to experience a diverse culinary adventure.

  • Stay safe

Yacht chartering is about fun, relaxation, and exploration, not ER visits. So, make sure safety comes first in your galley.

Keep the pots and pans secure on the stove, watch your fingers while chopping, and don’t forget to put on oven mitts when taking out your delicious sea bass from the oven.
